When I first considered a timeshare, I was apprehensive because I didn't understand how it worked, and I didn't want to pay for something that either would cost me more than it was worth or that I wouldn't use and enjoy.
I am very happy with Vacation Internationale having been an owner for 20 years. We are keeping enough points to allow us to vacation about a month a year. I have more points than I can use right now, and am willing to sell some of them. Please visit the Vacation Internationale website prior to making a purchase so you can view the different properties and be familiar with what you will own.
Vacation International's chain of 29 resorts offers a wealth of exciting vacation opportunities! From the resorts in Hawaii located on multiple islands, to mountain retreats such as Elkhorn in Sun Valley Idaho and Leavenworth, Ocean properties along the West Coast, to Mexican resorts such as Vallarta Torre and Torres Mazatland, Vacation Internationale provides many options in vacation ownership. A point system allows full weeks or single night stays allowing you to tailor your vacation to suit your needs. VI can also be exchanged and hundreds of resorts through RCI and II.
A typical timeshare will allow you to stay for one or more weeks a year at a specific location or you can choose to trade for similar properties. With VI, you choose your location and preferred dates of travel up to a year in advance. You may stay for as little as one day, or for as many days as points you have available. See below the map for more explanation.
Who should buy Vacation Internationale? Someone who would like to vacation at least every 3 years at condominiums and would like flexibility and appreciate a savings of 35%-80% over what it would cost them to book direct.
Why buy from me? My prices are very competitive. They are a fraction of what Vacation Internationale and other owners are asking. Why? Because, I've learned in life that being reasonable and fair in what I ask and what I pay for things makes everything go so much more smoothly and that the person on the other side of the transaction is happy about it years later.
Resort LocationsWith many places to choose from, you're sure to find somewhere exciting to take your next vacation! Please go to Resort Map for a map showing you all the resorts on the program. In addition, being a Vacation Internationale owner allows you to exchange through Interval Internationale and RCI. |
What does it cost?
Each year there is a maintenance fee due. I’ve owned VI for about 20 years and the annual fee has typically been about $5 a point. A contract that would allow a weekly vacation in a 1 bedroom at High Season would cost $525 a year. A typical comparable condominium, even if you rented directly from the owner would cost you $1,050 to $1,500 a week. You'll find examples under the scenarios below what the cost of renting outside of Vacation Internationale can be.
When you purchase at Vacation Internationale, you purchase a contract for a particular number of points. You can own as little as 77 points every other year or as many as you'd like on an annual basis. The point system works very smoothly. Each year you receive the number of points that you purchased. Those points can be time banked so you can use them over a period of 3 years. So, for example if you owned 105 points, you could save up to 315 at a time before needing to use them. If you were to go to Hawaii for example and stay in a 1 bedroom at High Season (the most popular season), you could choose to go a week a year, 2 weeks every 2 years, or 3 weeks every 3 years or any combination. Below are options as to how you could use 315 points over a period of 3 years. Click on the comparable cost prices for links to confirm those prices.

| If your total cost per point is as computed above at $6.50 a point, this is what your vacation actually costs you in full. $3,300/105 points/25 years=$1.25/year. Maintenance fee $5.17/year. Total Cost/Point= $6.42 | ||||||
High Season: The most popular months cost the most. These would typically be winter months in Hawaii, Palm Springs and summer months on the East and West Coast of mainland USA.
Mid Season: These are mid range in popularity.
Low Season: The least popular months cost the least. These would typically be summer months in Hawaii, Palm Springs and winter months on the East and West Coast of mainland USA.
I have owned VI for about 20 years. The maintenance fees have typically been $5 a point. For 2005, 2006 and 2007, we, the owners voted to do a major refurbishment, which raised the maintenance fees for those years to $6.89/point. I stayed at Valley Isle recently and am so pleased at what was done. The entire unit was remodeled and refurnished to high standards and quality. We stayed in a 1 bedroom, which cost 15 points a night, which is 105 a week. Rather than effectively costing us $525 (maintenance fee) for the week, the higher maintenance fees ended up costing us $700 for each week for just 3 years. From now on, we are able to enjoy top quality units throughout the system. It was very well spent money. Starting 2009, the maintenance fee will be back down to the $525 range for a week of use. A benefit of purchasing now is that much of the refurbishment costs have been paid. It’s like buying a completely remodeled house rather than one in average condition. The same condo, if rented even through an owner directly would have cost $1,050 a week plus tax or about $1,200. We, the owners, as a majority so to speak, have a big part in the decision process for refurbishment.
Available Contracts For Sale
As I mentioned, I have more contracts than I need. It doesn't matter to me which ones I keep or sell. The information on each of my 5 contracts and the prices are listed below. If you've looked for a VI timeshare, you'll find these to be very reasonable prices. I went to two websites that offer several Vacation Internationale properties for sale and listed every ad and the details. If you click on the Ad button, it will take you to that ad. Then you will see what other owners are asking.
The best priced property still had a cost per point per remaining year of $1.60. Other than one low priced every other year contract at $1.74, my contracts for sale range from $1.26 to $1.37. These are excellent values. I purchased these from other owners and didn't pay $110-$130 a point so I'm able to sell them reasonably as well.
